Stabilizer Know How
CHOOSING THE CORRECT STABILIZER
There are a variety of stabilizers on the market, many of which can be used to stabilize an area when decorating, sewing, embroidering or in construction.
In order to find the correct stabilizer for your needs, use the following guidelines.
INSPIRA TEAR-A-WAY LIGHT
Use for lightweight or delicate fabrics. Tears away even easier than regular Tear-A-Way – can use two layers for lightweight fabrics as you tear each layer away so as not to apply too much stress to delicate stitches.
INSPIRA DISSOLVE-A-WAY
Soluble stabilizer should be hooped on the top of fabric when sewing on napped fabric or knits such as terry cloth towels or sweatshirt fleece. It can also be used alone to sew lace-type designs.
INSPIRA CUT-A-WAY
Used with heavy knits where extra stability is needed. Excess is cut away but not all of the stabilizer can be removed. Available
in black and white.
INSPIRA STICKY
Can be used with small areas like cuffs, collars or plackets.
The stabilizer is hooped and then slit with a pin to remove the paper backing. The fabric sticks to the stabilizer without having
to be hooped.
INSPIRA BLACK TEAR-A-WAY
Use with dark fabrics or dark threads.
INSPIRA FUSE N’ TEAR
Press to the back of fabric. Stabilize fabrics that “move” a lot (knits, very lightweight slippery fabrics). Tears away when complete.
STITCH ‘N DITCH
Paper stabilizer ideal for heirloom sewing on delicate fabrics.
Tears off without damaging the stitches.
INSPIRA CLEAR & MELT
Melts away with a low heat and leaves very little residue.
AQUA MAGIC
Very stable, soft paper-type stabilizer that dissolves in water.
Perfect for lace embroidery designs and embroidery on knits.
HYDRO-STICK
Paper-backed stabilizer that adheres to fabric when moistened
and holds in place with or without hooping. Great for fabrics that are light and move too much within the hoop.
